Group scolds CAN youth wing for criticising Osinbajo

A group, Forum of United Nigerians Against Divisive Elements (FUNADE), has faulted the youth wing of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) for remarks against Vice President Yemi Osinbajo. 

The youth wing in a publication, recently, accused Osinbajo of being indifferent and mute on the killings of some Christians in Benue State by suspected herdsmen. 

The Executive Secretary of FUNADE, Apostle Israel Majekodunmi, in Akure, yesterday, dispelled the allegations, saying it “smacks of mischief. It was tactless and has no merit.”

Majekodunmi said Osinbajo’s absence during the mass burial of 73 people killed by herdsmen in Makurdi did not mean he was indifferent.“The blatant killings and disregard for human life is of concern to everyone with a thread of humanity in the soul. It must be stated clearly that Osinbajo has never been silent about such issues. 

It would be recalled that it was the Vice President, on the instruction of President Buhari, that initiated the peace moves in Adamawa State in 2017 during clashes between herdsmen and farmers.

“He visited the state on December 5, 2017, in the wake of the clashes, and a week later commenced a series of national consultations with relevant groups to find a lasting solution to the conflict in parts of the country.”He maintained that Osinbajo has been meeting with other interest groups and leaders of affected communities.
