Mamamoni Foundation has collaborated with consultant public health physician, Dr. Damilola Akinsulire, to empower women in Mushin Local Government Area.

The women were taught how to make disinfectant, air freshener and soap by the convener, Nkem Okocha, while the health expert created awareness on breast cancer and conducted free screening for participants. She advised women on the need for self-breast examination as a way to prevent breast cancer.

“Breast cancer is one of the leading causes of death in women. It is a preventable disease that can be cured if detected early. Every woman must examine their breast at least once every month after their menstrual period.

“Signs to look out for include redness, retracted nipples, dimpling of the skin over the breast tissue, nipple discharge and painless lump in the breast,” Akinsulire explained.
