Kogi State Governor Alhaji Yahaya Bello has promised to Immortalise the late minister of Labour and Employment Barrister James Ocholi, his wife Blessing and son Joshua who died in a ghastly auto crash on the 6th of March, 2016.

Bello who spoke at the special court session organised by the State High Court of Justice in honour of the deceased paid glowing tribute to the late minister, for his integrity, simplicity and commitment to his professional calling which he said was manifested in how the entire country has continued to honour him.

In his words, “The Kogi State Government and the people shall never forget James we will see to that by seeking for better ways to immortalise his memory. We shall remember the surviving children and show them love as indigenes of Kogi State in their own personal rights as well as well as children of our beloved friend.”
He indicated that Blessing his dear wife and Joshua his son who died with him would also be immortalised as they helped to make him the great man he was.

He prayed for God’s mercy to continue to deliver everyone from accident and untoward incidents.
Bello indicated that the late minister had payed his dues and left his legacies boldly printed on the sands of time
He said he was a legal Icon, a distinguished jurist and a complete gentleman.

The Chief Judge of Kogi State Justice Nasir Ajana said Bar Ocholi as the first resident Senior Advocate of Nigeria from the State had been a part of the steady rise of the legal profession in Kogi State.
“He left an indelible mark and the lasting impression on everybody he had encounter with. His achievement has been by dint of hard work he is indefatigable .

According to him, he was committed to God who directed all his successes and also remained conscious of his professional calling where he distinguished himself.
in his chosen career Ajana indicated that his ascension to being a senior advocate of Nigeria and Minister did not come to him as a surprise adding that Ocholi was his friend for over 20 years when the two families became closely knit together like brothers.

“A completely detribalized Nigeria who had dreams for the State which he could not fulfil. His humility unequalled.
“To everything there is a season and a time to every purpose under heaven, a time to be born and a time to die, a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance, he has made all things beautiful in his time.”

The representative of the Body of Benchers Dr. Alex Iziyon indicated that Barrister Ocholi was an enigma of a gentleman.
He pointed out that two hours to his demise he spoke through a phone call with the late bosom friend who was so tenacious in professionalism.

One of his mates in the class of 86 Nigerian Law school Chief Joe-Kyari Gadzama said though late Ocholi was no longer physically available is alive because in Christendom the believe was that the dead was only sleeping with the Lord.

In his words, “Ocholi was an iconic lawyer, secondly he was an astute politician, thirdly he was a devoted Christian, fourthly even as a politician he distinguished himself and stood out among his peers and represented us as a worthy ambassador among the politician and he was never found wanting as a lawyer and as a politician.”
