The Acting General Officer Commanding (GOC) 7 Division, Nigerian Army, Brig-Gen. Abdulmalik Biu, has charged Operation Lafiya Dole troops to deploy professionalism and basic military tactics to neutralise Boko Haram terrorists.

He lamented that the remnants of Boko Haram terrorists still hibernating within the theatre of war was worrisome and needed to be finally decimated.

Biu gave the charge at the weekend, while addressing troops at various locations during his maiden operational visit to the 21 Armoured Brigade in Bama, Borno State.

He said there was no doubt that Boko Haram terrorists have been degraded in terms of their strength, equipment capability and logistics platforms in the Sambisa Forest and Lake Chad region.

He commended the Brigade for its doggedness in combating terrorism, which he attributed to coordinated efforts, team spirit, dedication and loyalty.

Biu stated that the counter-terrorism operations have changed; hence the need to change tactics by remaining focused, motivated and confident in order to deny the remaining terrorists any means of sustenance.

He charged the troops on the front lines to be professional by constantly revisiting their battlefield craft and reinforce efforts in ambushes and sustain patrols.

“Boko Haram terrorists are no longer a potent threat to the Nigerian nation.

Their activities have been diminished to its lowest ebb and they are now only in tactics of survival.

“You have to be brave, enduring and persistent in order to checkmate the activities of terrorists. Your alertness is key to totally winning this battle. I’m also proud and impressed with your current efforts to conclude the war,” he said.

Biu, who was accompanied by principal staff officers of the division, visited 222 Battalion locations in Konduga and Kawuri, 202 Battalion at Awulari, as well as 151 Task Force Battalion at Banki junction and Firgi Crossing points.

He also visited Lt Col. Mohammed Abu Ali range in the Sambisa Forest, Nigerian Air Force (NAF) Emergency Hospital and Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Bama.
