Four stockbrokers face trial over alleged N13 billion fraud
Four stockbrokers, Adeyemi Oluwaseun, Suleiman Yusuf Obhakume, Yusuf Imran Adekunle and Haruna Issah have been charged before a Lagos High Court sitting in Ikeja for alleged stealing N13 billion.
The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) instituted the suit against them before Justice Josephine Oyefeso.The anti -graft alleged that the defendants stole the sum of N13 billion belonging to First Marina Trust Limited.
The defendants who were arraigned on a seven-count charge pleaded not guilty to the charges.Part of the charge read that “ Adeyemi Oluwaseun, Suleiman Yusuf Obhakume , Yusuf Imran Adekunle and Haruna Issah on about 17th day of May, 2016 in Lagos within the jurisdiction of this honourable court stole the sum of N237,250, 000 property of First Marina Trust Limited.
“Adeyemi Oluwaseun, Suleiman Yusuf Obhakume, Yusuf Imran Adekunle and Haruna Issah on or about 27th day of May, 2016 stole the sum of N500, 200,000.00 property of First Marina Trust Limited.”The prosecution said that their offence contravenes Section 285(1) and (8) of the criminal law of Lagos State, 2011.However, Justice Oyefeso adjourned the trial till April 16, 2018.
