Ondo State Capital, Akure.

Over 500 children of Irekari community in Ose Local Government Area of Ondo State have been empowered by Seun Alabukun Foundation (SAF) to cushion the economic hardship in the country.

Aside giving them school bags and notebooks, the foundation also organised the first Miss Irekari Beauty Pageant and Talent hunt show where the winner was presented a sum of N100,000 and one year modelling contract.

The children, aged between three and 10 were selected from all the four towns namely: Idoani, Idogun, Imeri and Afo, which make up the Irekari segment of the council.

Chief Executive Officer of the foundation, Dr. Seun Alabi, noted that the initiative is geared towards empowering and encouraging Irekari youths to showcase their talents and help women, especially widows.

“It is also a means to give back to our fatherland; this is our home which must not be abandoned, individuals must endeavour to contribute their quota in any little means to the development of Irekari.

Alabi presented a cash gift of N30,000 each to the widows of the three policemen who lost their lives during the armed robbery attack in Ifon, the headquarters of Ose Local government some few months ago.
