AN EXPERT in the mining industry, Abdullahi Usman, popularly called Dan China has called on the Federal Government to ensure the inclusion of the mining and minerals sector in its developmental agenda.

Usman further said if this is done it would create job opportunities for thousands of youths in the country.

According to him, Nigeria is blessed with so many minerals deposit saying the sector if properly harnessed will generate foreign revenue for the country five times the oil.

He added that, “As crude oil price continues to nose dive, I am calling on the Federal Government to invest in the mining sector as it has the much needed diversification of the economy from oil and this can be achieved with deliberate commitment to utilising the mass deposit of solid minerals in virtually every state in the country.”

He said in a press statement made available to newsmen in Jos that, “There are so many mineral deposits in the country that are not known and still lying untapped, adding that iron ore and zircon sand has large deposits in the country and if properly tapped has the capacity to generate revenue for the country more than crude oil.”
