Encomiums, As Alausa Bids Fashola Farewell

Ahead of the May 29 handover to newly elected Chief Executive Officer, the entire members of the Lagos State Civil Service, on Friday, held a special session in hour of the outgoing governor Babatunde Raji Fashola.

Tagged Time Out with BRF… Indelible Footprints, the event, which was staged at the State Secretariat, Alausa, was an opportunity for both past and present members of the state’s workforce to pay glowing tribute to a man that redefined civil service.

In his welcome address, the Permanent Secretary, office of Infrastructure & Chairman Organising Committee Engr. Tayo Bamgbose Martins, commended Gov. Fashola for his remarkable achievements in his eight years as governors. “We consider this programme our way of appreciating a true leader that overcame and improved the lot of the people.

This event is organised by the public service of Lagos State in your honour because you’ve set a new standard of public service in Lagos and Nigeria,” he said In his presentation titled BRF-Indelible Footprints: Civil Service Perspective, Head of Civil Service, Lagos State, Mrs. Folashade Jaji went down memory lane on all the efforts and achievements of the Fashola’s administration in improving the Lagos State civil service, described the outgoing governor as an astute manager and trailblazer.

In his response, Gov. Fashola, thanked members of the state’s workforce for their support to his administration, attributing his many achievements to the cordial relationship he enjoyed from the civil servants. “ Today, I share the responsibility for everything that we did well.

And as the team leader, I will accept responsibility for the things that we didn’t do well. If I tried to take personal credit for what we did, you wont agree; there was a team doing it.

So, the credit must go to all that made contribution to the success we recorded in the state.”

The governor, however praised the APC for providing the template through which dividends of democracy were provided for the people.

“We worked with the manifesto of the party; we infused it in our civil service. If there’s one thing that I’m happy for, it is the fact that our party, right from AD to AC, CAN and APC, has demonstrated that, in this part of the world, government can work, that government can change lives.”

Fashola further urged members of the Lagos State Civil Service to sustain their support for the government, adding that, “every other state want to be like Lagos because we’ve set the pace. Today, those who turned their back at public service before are applying to join.

The best I could say to you is, ‘thank you, thank you, thank you,” he said. The event also featured music and poetry performances and special presentation of gift to the governor by the workers.
