House of Representatives, Yakubu Dogara, has asked public office holders and members of the National ‎Assembly to empower rural dwellers, especially in the area of small scale businesses.

Dogara stated this at the weekend in Misau Local Council of Bauchi State during the official flag-off and launching ‎of economic empowerment programme initiative by Ahmed Yarima, member representing Misau/Dambam federal constituency.

He said empowerment ‎of youth and women was part of their campaign slogan, adding that the time has come for everyone to feel the change they voted for.

He advised Nigerians to be patient with President Muhammadu Buhari‎, saying, “by January I assure you that the economy of Nigeria will begin to take sharp, so people should be patient and see what the President have for us in his budget package.”

He said the people can only criticise them if the government failed to provide meaningful economic development in line with their aspirations.

He emphasised that President Buhari is determine to get rid of corrupt public office holders and fight corruption in his government, to pave way for positive change.

Dogara stressed that Nigerians should blame their representatives where they fail to provide vibrant economic plans in their constituency rather than shifting the blame on the President and Federal Government.

According to him, the parliament is always ready to support Buhari’s fight against corruption.

Dogara commended the member representing Misau/Danbam federal constituency, saying, “he has been tested and trusted as a true representative of the people in the area of economic empowerment.”
