Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu has congratulated the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

Deputy President of the Senate, Ike Ekweremadu has congratulated the winner of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) presidential primary election, former Vice President Atiku Abubakar.

In a statement issued by his Media Assistant, Uche Anichukwu, he also congratulated the other aspirants and the party over what he described as “crucial and rancor-free exercise”, noting that the process was more important than everything else, as all the aspirants were eminently qualified to lead the nation.

“I join our teeming party faithful and supporters to congratulate Atiku Abubakar on his nomination as the standard-bearer of the PDP in the 2019 presidential elections.’’

“This is a watershed and a momentous occasion for the PDP and indeed, the nation. More important in the race was the transparent, free, fair, credible and peaceful process,” he stated.

Meanwhile, former Chairman of PDP in Ondo State, Dr. Tayo Dairo, has also felicitated with Atiku, saying that he (Atiku) had put robust political structures in place across the country.

“He has a structure that has been in place for a very long time and which is easy to energise and a pointer to what APC should expect in next year’s general elections,” he stated.

Dispelling insinuations Atiku may discard the clamour for restructuring if he eventually wins the 2019 poll, Dairo said: “The South West put that before every aspirant and they all made commitment to implement it.”

Speaking, PDP Publicity Secretary, South West, Ayo Fadaka, said Atiku’s emergence signified the party’s determination to field its best in the quest to win the 2019 presidential election.
