Ekiti governor tasks aggrieved PDP aspirants on peace, party success

Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose has appealed to aggrieved aspirants of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to sheathe their swords and team up with him to win the July 14 governorship election.

Representative of Ekiti South senatorial district, Biodun Olujimi, former Ambassador to Canada, Dare Bejide, former Minister for Works, Dayo Adeyeye and former Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice, Owoseni Ajayi, were aggrieved at Fayose’s adoption of his deputy, Professor Olusola Eleka, as his successor.

Speaking at the monthly programme: The Governor Explains, Fayose explained that those who are angry with him for supporting his deputy should embrace the on-going reconciliation in PDP at the national level.

“In politics, everybody wants to win but only one candidate will win eventually. Today, they are not happy that we are supporting Olusola Eleka. But our being with Olusola is not the end of the journey, there is still the primary, it is a game, if you win, others will support you. Our goal is to win the election.

“As an individual, I have the right to support whoever I deem fit, that does not take anything away from the contestant’s quality. If they are angry, I appeal to them, I am sorry, but that doesn’t change my support for Olusola Eleka.

The governor, who was confident that his party would win the July 14 governorship poll, added that his many development projects were his scorecards.

Meanwhile, a governorship aspirant on the platform of the Mega Party of Nigeria (MPN) in Ekiti State, Bode Olowoporoku, has vowed to use his security vote to buy rice for the people, if elected governor of the state.

Olowoporoku, who stated this yesterday in, Ilawe-Ekiti, headquarters of Ekiti Southwest Local Council during an interactive session with reporters, lamented that the level of poverty in the state has become worrisome.

He noted that his first assignment would be to alleviate poverty if elected.

Olowoporoku, a former Senator promised to immediately address the hunger by sharing 100 bags of rice to each of the 177 wards in the state on a monthly basis in the first instance, using his security vote.

He, however, said to address hunger on a long term, his government would launch an Agriculture Revolution, which would take precedence in the scheme of things and enjoy huge portion of government budget.
