Edo speaker harps on strong institutions to deepen democracy

Edo State House of Assembly Speaker (EDHA), Kabiru Adjoto, has advocated that institutions midwifing democracy in the country must be vibrant and strong in her quest to deepen democracy.

Adjoto said the present administration has demonstrated strong passion for revitalizing critical sectors of the economy vital to the growth of the state citing the reconstruction of Edo State civil service secretariat, the completion of Block D’ Office to address the prolonged accommodation problems, and the reconstruction of the State High Court complex.

Adjoto made this known to newsmen in Benin City yesterday during the ongoing renovation work at the Edo Assembly Speaker’s office and the EDHA reception hall, were he assured that the assembly complex would soon be given a facelift.

He expressed satisfaction over the cordial relationship between the executive, the legislative arms as well as the judiciary which he said has culminated into the monumental achievements recorded within the few years of the Obaseki led administration.

The speaker expressed the hope on the speedy completion of the renovation work, before the resumption of plenary scheduled for January 29, adding that the conducive atmosphere would add positive value for effective and vibrant law making.

The Chairman House Committee on Information and Chief Whip of the House, Osaigbovo Iyoha who applauded the effort the leadership of the House for giving the house a facelift attributed the feat to the healthy relationship between the legislative and the executive arm.
