Edo SEEFOR trains 5000 on entrepreneurship, skills development

• Obaseki’s commissioners get portfolios
No fewer than 5000 beneficiaries of the Edo State Employment and Expenditure for Results (SEEFOR) have commended the World bank, Edo State government and its development partners for engaging them in entrepreneurship and skills development under the public works project.

Hundreds of youths in the Edo SEEFOR who benefited in the training program tagged “mentorship on money management and entrepreneurship skills for beneficiaries of public works intervention” applauded the World bank, Edo State government for taking them off the streets and giving them an opportunity to become successful entrepreneurs through the various  Entrepreneurship and skill acquisition programmes of SEEFOR.

Addressing the beneficiaries yesterday in Benin City, at the end of the three days training, Project Coordinator Edo SEEFOR, Toju Onaiwu said the 5000 beneficiaries  who have completed their training and one year work comprised of workers from phase one, two and three of Edo SEEFOR project.

Toju added that the objective of the project is to enhance opportunities for employment and access to socio-economic services, while improving public expenditure management system.

Representative of the Project Coordinator Edo SEEFOR, Flora Bossey and Edo SEEFOR communication officer, urged the beneficiaries to take the training serious and knowledge acquired to better their lives by impacting positively in various small scale businesses at the end of the SEEFOR project.

Some of the beneficiaries in an interactive session confirmed that the training has open doors of new opportunities for them as it afforded them the opportunity and knowledge on issues of financial literacy, record keeping, financial management, entrepreneurship skills and prudent spending as well as  business start-up and access to credit.

Facilitator of the third training session, Mike Asekome noted that the SEEFOR project training review session is to round off all the three days training in the project in money mentorship based on before and after effect evaluation of the training sessions.
 
Meanwhile, the recently appointed commissioners to serve in the administration of Governor Godwin Obaseki of Edo State have been assigned to various ministries in the state.
 
This was at the first Executive Council meeting (EXCO) held by the Obaseki-led administration in Edo State during which commissioners were appointed to already existing ministries, others were assigned to ministries that were reorganised and renamed by the present administration.
 
The Governor, who was Chairman in Council during the meeting, announced that the state would now be operated under 18 ministries, while appointing a commissioner to each of them.
