THE All Progressives Congress (APC) in Edo State yesterday called for a probe into the contract for the construction of Oben-Umoghun-Nokhua road in Orhionmwon local council of the state by the Niger Delta Development Commission, (NDDC).

APC alleged that the project has been abandoned even after 70 percent of the contract sum has been paid.

A statement by the state Publicity Secretary of the party, Godwin Erahon, said APC was disappointed that the contract, which was awarded by the Presidency since 2010 at an alleged “inflated sum of N3.3 billion” with over five non- existent bridges and culverts built in, is still below 30 percent completion.

“Authoritative source confirmed that over 70 percent of the contract sum has been paid.”

APC believes that the current management of NDDC would probe the terms of the contract as awarded by the Presidency.
