Ebunoluwa seeks 100,000 pounds for kidney transplant

Specialist doctors at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH), Ikeja, have recommended a kidney transplant for 21-year-old Ebunoluwa Adesanya.

Adesanya, a final year Mass Communication student of Babcock University, was diagnosed of Lupus Nephritis, a kidney inflammation caused by systemic lupus erythematous (SLE), an autoimmune disease. According to WebMD, when the kidneys are inflamed, they leak protein and no longer function normally, resulting in kidney failure.

The patient, who has been on a weekly dialysis performed twice a week at the cost of N80,000, has left her family financially drained, while she desperately cling on to life in spite of the failure of her two kidneys.

The young lady have now been recommended by her doctors for kidney transplant within 6 weeks, as the best form of renal replacement therapy in London at an estimated cost of 100,000 Pounds at the Hammersmith Hospital, London.

The family is now left with no other option than to appeal for funds from well-meaning Nigerians, public and private organisations, and humanitarian groups to save Ebunoluwa’s life by going for the transplant surgery, which cost 100,000 pounds.
