E-learning vital to increasing access to education, says Osinbajo

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has canvassed leveraging on globalisation and technology through innovative e-learning platforms to increase access to education..

Osinbajo said this yesterday in Lagos, at a one-day policy forum on “E-Learning for Higher Education Institutions in Nigeria,” organised by OASIS, Sterling Bank, UNICAF and Afrigrants.

Represented by the Senior Special Assistant to the President on Information and Communications Technology, Mr. Lanre Osibona, he said creating conducive policy environment for innovations in e-learning would make the citizens to become productive and competitive.

He disclosed that accrediting more institutions and constructing physical facilities are not the intervention needed to tackle the space constraints in the country’s higher institutions.

He explained that this would further help in meeting the targets of the “Sustainable Development Goal Four,” which is to “ensure inclusive and quality education for all and promote lifelong learning.”
