Dickson, Sylva at war over insecurity in Bayelsa ahead 2019 elections

Bayelsa state governor, Seriake Dickson and former governor of the state, Timipre Sylva, are once again dragging each other over the recent killings and insecurity as the state heads into another electioneering year.

The two gladiators in their quest to control the political sphere in the state are presently engaged in a battle to control the Brass and Nembe axis, which has claimed two lives and many others injured.

The latest war of words followed recent insecurity in Brass Town and the foiled attempt by security operatives to arrest the caretaker Chairman of Brass Local Government Council, Victor Isiah over alleged complicity in last month’s violent clash between PDP and APC supporters in the area which led to the killing of two.

Security operatives were prevented by youths loyal to the chairman from doing their job on Thursday.

While Dickson accused President Buhari of allowing the former Governor, the Minister of State for Agriculture, Heineken Lokpobiri and other APC leaders to cause mayhem in the state despite his several reports and complaints to him and security agencies, Sylva said Dickson has once again, placed his shortcomings and inadequacies at his feet.

A statement signed by Dickson’s Special Adviser on Public Affairs, Daniel Alabrah, said the President has allowed common criminals and terrorists such as Sylva and Lokpobiri to unleash violence on the people while the IG is sitting in Abuja, directing investigation of a petition against the Brass Council chairman.

The Governor also directed security agencies to arrest and prosecute the legislator representing Brass Constituency 1 in the state House of Assembly, Israel Sunny-Goli, warning that if Sunny-Goli is not arrested and prosecuted by the law enforcement agencies, he would personally mobilise the people of the state to arrest him.
