Delta police arrest 26-year-old man for stealing toddlers

POLICE-LOGOFOR allegedly stealing two toddlers, a 26-year- old man, Mr. OnuwaOkafor of Atuma Iga in Oshimili North Local Council of Delta State has been arrested by the police.

Coming on the heels of the recent arrest of Mr. John Mary Ihezun, a suspected baby factory owner opposite Federal Radio Corporation (FRCN), Asaba and eight pregnant girls, the Delta State Police spokeswoman Celestina Kalu explained that Okafor snared and stole Miss Chinoso Osakwe, 4, and Master Chinaza Nwakanma, 3.

Kalu said that on Thursday July 30, 2015, the police at Issele Uku, headquarters of the council had received information that at about 8:00am that day, a man later identified as Okafor stole the innocent kids, an act which made some the angry citizens of the small town to beat him to pulp when he was reportedly caught.

Based on the information, she said that a patrol team was immediately drafted to the scene and met the culprit already beaten to coma by the irate mob.

She said that the suspect was rescued by the police who rushed him to General Hospital Issele-Uku for treatment.

She added that the toddlers have since been rescued and kept in protective custody pending the arrival of their parents, assuring that the kidnapper will be prosecuted at the end of
investigations.
