Court remands teenager for allegedly defiling a minor

An Ikeja Magistrates’ Court on Thursday remanded a 17- year- old boy (names withheld) at a Borstal Centre, Adigbe, Abeokuta, Ogun State, for allegedly defiling a 13-year-old girl.

The accused, a student, who lives with his parents at Agege, a suburb of Lagos, is facing a one – count charge of defilement.

The prosecutor, Sgt. Jimah Iseghede, told the court that the the boy defiled a girl living in the same compound with his (accused) friend.

He said the offence was committed on Aug. 16 at No. 2, Olurinde St., Agege, Lagos.

“The accused called the victim inside his friend’s room when he (friend) was not around, and defiled the innocent girl.

“It was the screams of the victim that alerted neigbours, who apprehended the accused,” the prosecutor said.

He said the offence contravened Section 137 of the Criminal Law of Lagos State, 2011.

However, the accused pleaded not guilty to the charge.(NAN)

The Chief Magistrate, Mr Tajudeen Elias, remanded the boy and adjourned the case to Sept. 26, for ruling on bail application.
