A Katsina State High Court has adjourned till July 25, hearing on ex-Governor Ibrahim Shema’s ex parte motion to stop a commission of inquiry from submitting its report

Adjourning the hearing, Justice Maikaita Bako directed that the chairman of the commission, Ado Ma’aji and its members be served a notice of the hearing through the state Attorney General, Ahmed Elmarzuk.

Shema’s counsel, Uyi Igunma had told the court that the contents of the commission’s main report, “were more fabricated than a reality.”

He disclosed that the notice had already been served on the respondents, including Governor Aminu Bello Masari and the state attorney general.

The commission had last Saturday submitted its main report to the state government.

While submitting the main report, Ma’aji gave a breakdown of the funds alleged to be missing or unaccounted for during Shema’s regime.

According to him, N17.9 billion was missing from the SURE-P accounts, N15.4 billion from the Ministry of Local Government and Chieftaincy Affairs.

Also cited was N14.9 billion for the state Roads Maintenance Agency, (KASROMA), N10.1 billion from the ministry of environment, departments of community development, special duties, girls child education and almajiri affairs.

Ma’aji explained that the N58.5 billion contained in the main report differ from the N55 billion stated in the interim report earlier submitted.

He said the difference was the outcome of a painstaking verification of the figures when the main report was being prepared.
