Cottage industries key to rebuilding Nigeria’s economy, says Korean envoy
The Ambassador of the Republic of Korea to Nigeria, Noh Kyu-duk has said that Nigeria could quickly rebuild its economy and improve its growth and development if the country could invest in education, as well as in cottage industries and free trade agreements.
The diplomat believes the models, which assisted in rebuilding his country’s economy in a very short period, if implemented in Nigeria could positively engage the citizens, expand the economic domain and bring high revenue to the country.
Delivering a lecture, ‘Growing the Nigerian Economy through Nigerian Universities’, at the University of Jos, Kyu-duk pointed out that throughout the period which war ravaged his country, parents in South Korea didn’t abandon education of their children.
He disclosed that his country is planning a partnership with Nigerian Universities to establish vocational training centres where students who are the future of the nation would develop their capacity and contribute to the economic of the country.
Earlier, the Vice-Chancellor of the University of Jos, Professor Sebastian Maimako commended the diplomat for sharing his knowledge with the institution, appealing for the establishment of a vocational training centre in the university.
