Chief Judge wigA group, Civil Societies Coalition for Emancipation of Osun State (CSCEO), has lamented the alleged failure of integrity test by some judges selected to man proposed anti-corruption court, saying it is regrettable.

In a statement, the group recommended Justice Olamide Folahanmi Oloyede for consideration as one of the judges to serve in the special court proposed to try Nigerians suspected to have stolen the nation’s resources to enrich themselves.

According to the group, Justice Oloyede merits consideration in view of her antecedents and fearlessness to challenge perceived wrongdoing irrespective of whose ox is gored.

It would be recalled that the judge recently wrote a petition against the Osun State governor, Rauf Aregbesola, and his deputy, Titi Laoye-Tomori, demanding their investigation and removal for alleged mismanagement of Osun State resources. The group said it was compelled to recommend Justice Oloyede to President Muhammadu Buhari for the special court in view of the recent failure by some judges on integrity test conducted by the Federal Government to inaugurate the court.

The chairman of the group, Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman said the President should not hesitate to give the judge a trial, going by the courage and fearlessness the woman has demonstrated even in the face of alleged persecution. He described the judge as uncompromising and upright, noting that she has the characteristics and spirit of the late renowned jurist, Justice Kayode Eso, who was reputed for saying the truth at all times without fear or favour.
Justice Oloyede wrote a petition against Aregbesola and Laoye-Tomori respectively, calling for their impeachment on the grounds of alleged criminal and reckless mismanagement of resources accrued to Osun State from the federation account.

Deliberating on the recent report in the media that some judges selected to man the special court failed integrity test at its monthly meeting in Osogbo, the group said: “It is regrettable that most of the judicial officers in the land have soiled their hands in one corrupt practice or the other for failing integrity test conducted by the security agents, which means our nation is bleeding. We want to use this opportunity to recommend the courageous serving judge of the Osun State High Court, Justice Olamide Folahanmi Oloyede to be appointed as one of the integrity judges to man the proposed anti-corruption specialized court that will be trying looters of the nation’s treasury.

‘’We also want to say that Justice Oloyede is a woman of virtue, integrity and uprightness with impeccable character who believes in the efficacy of law to right the wrong in our society, particularly, the menace of corruption that has eaten deep into the fabrics of the nation.’’
