It was a downpour of android tablets during the visit of 13 children from the Drama Academy of the Tunde Ekpekurede Foundation in Delta State, to the Lagos head offices of ITB Nigeria Limited. The children who were on a visit to Lagos to take part in the Zino Ejiro Cradle to Stardom talent hunt for new Nollywood faces were on a visit to ITB Nigeria Limited (member of the Chagoury group) to present a plaque of appreciation to the company for its unwavering support for their education since 2016.

The kids were awed by the VIP reception, which they received, and the gifts they received. All 13 visiting children each received one brand new android tablet from ITB Nigeria Limited.

The Tunde Ekpekurede Foundation is a membership organization committed to ending the cycle of poverty in indigent communities, families and individuals irrespective of race, colour, gender or religion. Our objectives are carried out via numerous channels including, early child education, after school English classes, compete and reward motivational programmes, aspirational building classes, after school music & drama classes, ICT classes, Chinese language classes, support for public schools and under resourced private schools, and scholarship awards.

In March 2017, recognising the impact of our youth centres on the education of young children, the Delta State Government approved our application to formally engage public schools in the State to provide services that will enhance educational outcomes in the state.

Under the PPP arrangement with the Delta State government, the foundation now has over 1200 kids under its mentorship program, is providing subjects experts to fill up gaps in public schools, providing writing desks and chairs for poor kids, providing meals, uniforms, food and shelter to severely malnourished children and supporting teachers, community associations and parents for the education of children.

Today the activities of the foundation are carried out under six project titles, The Private Public-School Project supporting kids in public schools for better educational outcomes, After School Academy, Adult Vocational School, Community Leadership Development Initiative, Youth Entrepreneurship & Leadership Academy and Advocacy for Children’s right to Quality Education.
