ARETIRED Commissioner of Police and anti- corruption crusader in Benue State, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has urged President Mohammadu Buhari not to be selective in his war against corruption .

Tsav-pix-28-2-15--ARETIRED Commissioner of Police and anti- corruption crusader in Benue State, Alhaji Abubakar Tsav, has urged President Mohammadu Buhari not to be selective in his war against corruption .

Tsav who made the plea yesterday in Makurdi while speaking with journalists on this year Sallah celebration, maintained that even as he is against corruption, he does not cherish the select and probe that is seem to be going on in the country.

“If President Buhari want to fight corruption, he should go whole hog rather than be selective. Let everybody be probed. They should even start by probing Mrs. Patience Jonathan. For me, I am totally against corruption and I demonstrated this when I was serving as Commissioner of Police in Lagos State and other places,” Tsav stated.

Commenting on the on-going trial of the Senate President, Bukola Saraki, by the Code of Conduct Tribunal, Tsav said even as he cannot stop Saraki’s probe, the timing is wrong, as it seems to be a political witch-hunt, which does not speak well for the administration.

“The probing of Saraki the Senate President I think we are creating a serious error for now. Every person that served as governor at the time Saraki was governor has a case; but why did they select this man now? Me I am against this select and probe. I think we should have the fear of God. I am not supporting Saraki if he had done anything wrong, he should be dealt with. But, my worry is the people who are saying crucify him, crucify him are dirtier than this man. They are not like Buhari who has come with clean credentials,” he retorted.

The elder statesman also said if the present government is sincere with its anti- graft war, it should go after those that had manned the nation’s anti corruption agencies who become richer overnight.

“I think the first people to be probe are those that headed these anti graft agencies. If corruption is really to be dealt with, the war must start with them. They go in poor and come out richer.”

Reacting on calls from certain quarters on the Senate President to resign his position at the Senate, Tsav said such calls are baseless, adding that Saraki is only accused and have not been found guilty.

On the purported Federal Government negotiation with the insurgents in the North- East, the social crusader said its like somebody is trying to play on Nigerians’ intelligence; adding that if any negotiation should be done, it should be with Shekau who claims to be the leader of Boko Haram.

Commenting on President Buhari’s delay in the appointment of ministers, Tsav said it is a sad commentary but appealed to Nigerians to wait for the end of the month as promised by Mr. President. “What Buhari is doing is like looking for water in the sea. The delay is getting too worrisome. As president, he is supposed to stabilize the nation,” he said.

He further call on Muslims and other Nigerians to exhibit the spirit of friendship among themselves and have the fear of God, saying since both Christians and Muslims believe that Abraham is their father there is no reason to quarrel.

Very sad this coming from Tsav, I think what we should be celebrating in the Saraki/CCT saga is that the law is no respecter of anyone no matter how highly placed and how long such person has been shielding himself from prosecution. If Mr Tsav must blame anyone it should be past administrations that allowed corrupt government officials and ‘big men’ to go unpunished. Witch hunt, Wizard hunt or select probe name it whatever, probe have to start somewhere.

To answer you question, sir on why they select to probe Saraki now? Isn’t it obvious, He is the Senate President no3 citizen of Nigeria, our number 1 lawmaker must be an upright person with little or no baggages.
