Boroffice Slams Mimiko, Defends Buhari’s Economic Policies
The senator’s reaction is coming as a follow up of comments made by the governor on President Buhari economic policies during the sixth Gani Fawehinmi Annual Memorial Lecture held in Akure recently.
Borroffice said while the honour bestowed on the lasting legacies of Fawehimi is most deserving and befitting, “it is, however, of concern that the programme was fraudulently used to promote and advanced the same anti-people policies the late sage lived, fought and died for.”
Borroffice, who represents Ondo North on the platform of All Progressives Congress (APC) in the Senate, advised Mimiko to have a deep self-reflection on his newfound role, adding that it was absurd, hypocritical and nonsensical for a renowned exemplar of bad governance to advise the Federal Government on sound economic policies.
Borroffice said: “for the records, I wish to state that Mimiko is a prime beneficiary of the sound economic policies of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led Federal Government. The bailout package for workers and pensioners who have been exposed to unimaginable hardship by the Mimiko-led administration is a product of the sound economic policies of the Federal Government.
“Nigerians can testify to significant improvement in power supply and the Federal Government has unveiled an economic blueprint that emphasises more investment in people, education, job creation and social sectors to reduce poverty; diversification of the economy in the areas of agriculture, technology, manufacturing and entertainment, national school feeding scheme and the conditional cash transfer to 25 million poorest households in the country.
“However, these laudable policies cannot be satisfactorily implemented if our stolen wealth is not retrieved from the looters of yesterday who served under the highly-corrupt Peoples Democratic Party (PDP)-led administration from 1999 to 2015.”
