Nigeria-Niger-Unrest-IslamistsGOVERNOR Kashim Shettima of Borno state has said that government has created a new ministry for the reconstruction, rehabilitation and resettlements of Boko Haram destroyed towns and villages, before the over 500, 000 Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) could return to their communities along with the re-opening of closed schools for resumptions.

The new ministry was named as: “The Ministry of Reconstruction, Rehabilitation and Resettlement (MRRR)” with the mandate of rebuilding and resettling all the affected Boko Haram victims in Borno state.

This was disclosed Thursday in Maiduguri, while the governor was addressing 48 sworn in commissioners and council chairmen at the Government House on how to rebuild all the destroyed communities, before the displaced persons could return.
His words: “Immediately after Sallah we will start rebuilding Bama, with or without international support. By the end of the year, we want the people of Askira/Uba to return home. Gwoza, Abadam, Konduga, Monguno, including all other destroyed communities in the affected Local Government Areas of this state.

“Other destroyed public buildings and other infrastructural facilities, including public schools, health centres and clinics, that will be reconstructed by this new ministry, are to enable displaced persons return to their respective communities. But the most important thing now, was to overcome the challenges of feeding our people living
in camps and houses of family relations and friends in Maiduguri and Biu.”
