#BayelsaDecides: Results of supplementary election [LIVE BLOG]

Some of the results of the supplementary governorship elections in Bayelsa States have been announced by the independent National Electoral Commission (INEC). Below are the results already announced.

20:37: The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has declared the incumbent governor of Bayelsa State and the candidate of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in the Bayelsa governorship election, Seriake Dickson, has the winner of the election.

Dickson defeated his closest rival Timipre Sylva of the All Progressives Congress (APC). state.

In the result announced by Professor Zana Akpagu, the returning officer of the governorship election, Dickson got a total of 134, 998 while Sylva, a former governor of the state, polled a total of 86, 852.

20:05: Party agents are stepping forward one after the other to endorse the result sheets.

19:06: APC agent, again, diagreed with the result from South Ijaw LGA on the ground that INEC ad hoc staff cancelled results from that particularly LGA arbitrarily in areas where APC was leading.

14:25: The announcement of the results is temporarily suspended as the result from Southern Ijaw LGA is being awaited.

14:20: APC agent said his party is “strongly objecting” to the results from Ekeremor. He said the cancellation of over 6,000 votes happened only where APC won in order to give PDP undue advantage. But the PDP agent present disagreed. He argued that APC members were responsible for the cancellation owing to their violent conduct. The PDP agent also alleged that the 257 votes got by APC were wrongly allocated and should be cancelled.

An APC agent disagreed with the cancellation of election in Ward 13. He said election was properly conducted at the units where votes were cancelled and that results were duly signed by the electoral officer.

13:52: The collation officer of Nembe LG said the results from Ward 13 [units 005, 012, 015] were cancelled due to over-voting in Unit 012 while card readers were not used at Units 005 and 015 . The total number of votes cancelled from the units are 883.

13:36: INEC resumes the announcement of results of the Bayelsa governorship election after over two hours of delay.

Results from Souther Ijaw are yet to be announced. Announcement of results will continue by 11:00am
