A POLITCAL pressure group, Masses Eyes, has urged wide consultation on the choice of successor to Governor Adams Oshiomhole who leaves office next year as Edo State governor.

The body particularly implored the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) to ensure that whoever emerges as the party’s flagbearer in next year’s governorship election is a person of proven integrity and one that has capacity and boldness to continue from where the outgoing governor stops.

In a statement yesterday by its coordinator, Samson Momorin, the group urged governor and party to consider the contribution of the would-be governor to the party as well as how much they had benefitted their people through their current portfolios.

It advised the people to vote wisely.

“There are some of these aspirants who did not use their positions to work for the people, and today, they want to be governor, but we the Masses Eye are not fools. We can see some of them who have the masses at heart, who feel the masses’ pain,” Momorin said.

The statement noted that the outgoing governor had been able to take the state from a point of a non- viable state to a point of obvious development and would want somebody who could surpass these achievements to succeed him and most importantly, somebody who has been in the system and knows the terrain very well.

Momorin said the people want a successor that would be independently minded like Oshiomhole.
