AREWA youth leaders from the 19 northern states have declared their support for President Muhammadu Buhari’s war against corruption.

The decision by the youth to support President Buhari on the crusade against corruption was contained in a communiqué issued at the end of the joint youth summit organised by Arewa Defence League (ADL) in Kaduna.

The statement jointly signed by the President of ADL, Mallam Murtala Abubakar and the Director of Mobilisation, Research and Documentation, Mr. Mike Msuua, at the weekend said the courage exhibited by the President in his fight against corruption is quite commendable.

ADL also noted that, the decision by the President and his deputy to cut their salaries was a step in the right direction, adding, “It is expected that other public office holders will do same.

“Fighting corruption, growing unemployment and declining energy supply for the growth of cottage and large industries is a mission that must be accomplished.”

The communiqué further stressed: “Henceforth youth across the North will embark on active engagement and interface with public officers to ensure transparency, accountability and evaluate their performances regularly. Any resistance from those involved could lead to impeachment or recalling the officers.”

The summit with the theme; “Towards managing youth expectations in line with change” described as worrisome the growing number of Internationally Displaced Persons (IDPs) and averred that, “the current efforts by appropriate agencies seems not to be sufficient.”
