The All Progressives Grand Alliance (APGA) has condemned the burning of the homes of internally displaced persons (IDPs) in Nasarawa State.

The party’s national secretary, Labaran Maku, spoke yesterday while addressing newsmen at Wakama village in Nassarawa-Eggon local council of the state.

He said report indicated that the houses were being burnt by suspected herdsmen who chased them away from their communities.

The former minister noted that the killings in his home state were beyond herdsmen/farmers clashes since they never took place in the farms.

His words: “If disagreements happened in the farms over destruction of crops, they usually end in the palaces of traditional rulers or court and compensations are paid.

“In this one, people are being killed in their hamlets and communities without any trace of disagreement.

“This is not the case of herdsmen/farmers crisis as it is being said.”

He explained that what was happening in the state had a political undertone.
