The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has said only a candidate that would continue the six-point integral action plan of Governor Rauf Aregbesola would succeed him in next year’s governorship election.

The ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) in Osun State has said only a candidate that would continue the six-point integral action plan of Governor Rauf Aregbesola would succeed him in next year’s governorship election.

Secretary to the Government of Osun State, Alhaji Moshood Adeoti made this assertion at a forum with the theme: “A discourse on Ogbeni Rauf Aregbesola in the polity of the state of Osun.”

A statement by Adeoti after the forum tagged “Enroute Rauf” was organised for friends and associates of the governor to tell the story of how he (Aregbesola) came to rule the state.

“Whoever wants to succeed Aregbesola must be ready to continue his six-point integral action plan. The policies laid down by Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu was sustained by Babatunde Fashola and Akinwumi Ambode is building on them. That is why Lagos State is making progress.

“We are satisfied with Aregbesola’s six-point integral action plan and we would not allow anybody who is not ready to maintain and sustain the success achieved by the governor to succeed him.

APC Chairman in the state, Gboyega Famoodun, said there was the need to reply critics and clear some issues raised against the governor.Tracing the history of how Aregbesola became governor in the state, Famoodun flayed those claiming to be behind the governor’s coming to Osun State.

Although, Famoodun did not mention names, a chieftain of APC in the state, Fatai Diekola was said to have made insinuations that Aregbesola would be sent back to Lagos where they brought him from, adding that he knew how Aregbesola came to Osun and how he would be sent back.

It is obvious to all that Osun has made significant progress under Aregbesola that the APC as a party must now seek to sustain. Diekola and others have zero idea of governance and simply do not care, they are more concerned about talking about where this person lives or where that person comes from rather than what matters; who has moved the state forward to what it is now? If this progress must be sustained in Osun, the number one thing to look for in a successor is someone capable enough to keep to the drafted plan and ensure continuity.

APC working towards producing the next governor of the State of Osun to continue from where Ogbeni Aregbesola’s administration will end is the best decision they can make for the people of this state. Continuity will bring a total transformation to Osun in no time. A case study would be the Lagos example, one we should be keen to follow in Osun.
