The voluntary returnees, 149 in total, arrived at the Murtala Muhammed International Airport (MMIA), Lagos, aboard a Buraq Airlines’ chartered flight, 5A-DMG, at 10:45 pm on Thursday.
They consisted of 107 male adults, 37 female adults, including a medical case, four female children and an infant.
The returnees were received by the Southwest Zonal Coordinator of the National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA), Yakubu Suleiman, who admonished them to shun the urge of seeking greener pastures “where they does not exist.”
Suleiman explained that all countries in the world are facing various challenges as a result of global economic meltdown, adding: “Nigeria has more than enough resources that can cater for our needs, but it is left for every one of us to tap from any of these abundant resources.”
He assured the returnees that the federal and state governments have lots of incentives in place for their rehabilitations and reintegration to complement European Union and IOM’s repatriation efforts.
