The Rosicrucian Order, AMORC, an educational, cultural and philosophical organization will on Saturday, March 19, afternoon and March 20, 2016, Sunday morning celebrate the Ancient New Year rite in commemoration of a ceremony that began in Egypt over forty centuries.

In a joint statement by the Masters of the Affiliated Bodies in Lagos Zone of AMORC, the Ancient Egyptians from the time of Memphis to Ptolemic period began their new year on or about the time of Vernox Equinox when the sun crosses the celestial equator and enters the Zodiacal sign aries, which always occurs on or about March 21st in Egypt with the coming of spring.

While not experiencing the advent of spring, those living in the Southern Hemisphere symbolically perpetrate the traditional beginning during a basic transition in the season. This was considered the beginning of New Year and was symbolic of New Life.
