Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi

Akwa Ibom State Commissioner of Police, Mr. Adeyemi Ogunjemilusi, has promised to reorganize the command tactical units and curb social vices, thereby sustaining the peaceful environment the state is known for.

At his maiden press conference yesterday in Uyo, as the 23rd Police Commissioner of the state, CP Ogunjemilusi identified such tactical units as Anti-kidnapping, Anti-Robbery, State intelligence Bureau and Quick Response Squad.

He stressed that, he had brainstormed session with his principal officers all aimed at reviewing the security architecture of the state, so as to effectively combat heinous crimes such as kidnapping, cultism, armed robbery, rape and murder.

“It is therefore my vision to make Akwa Ibom State the safest state in the country. To that effect, I have reviewed the security architecture of the state and had brainstorming sessions with my principal officers to reposition the command for effective service delivery.

“Let me therefore warn that tough time awaits criminal elements in the state. The command will make it very difficult for you to succeed. We shall pursue you and bring you to justice. I would like to seize this opportunity to call on the good people of Akwa Ibom State to continue to cooperate and collaborate with the police to expose criminal elements and help the police to serve you better”, he said.

The new CP acknowledged that the task of policing cannot be handled by the police alone but with the collaboration of other sister security agencies.

He appealed to officers and men of the command for their continued cooperation, loyalty and dedication to duty, stressing that, such gesture would not go unnoticed by the command.

“I will continue to count on your loyalty and dedication to duty and be assured that I will do all my best to improve your welfare”, he added.

Ogunjemilusi, who took over from CP Muazu Zubairu who spent only six months in the state, commended the Akwa Ibom State government for its support to the command, noting that, in his career as police commissioner, the support the state gives to the command was unprecedented.
