Akarigbo gets staff of office December 7

The Akarigbo elect of Remoland, Sagamu, Ogun State, Babatunde Adewale Ajayi will receive his staff of office from the State government on Thursday, December 7.

The Akarigbo elect of Remoland, Sagamu, Ogun State, Babatunde Adewale Ajayi will receive his staff of office from the State government on Thursday, December 7.

Ajayi, 55 succeeds the immediate past Akarigbo, Oba Michael Adeniyi Sonariwo who joined his ancestors on July 24, 2016.

The Chairman of the Coronation Committee, Asiwaju Solomon Kayode Onafowokan who spoke at a press conference at the palace yesterday disclosed that the Vice President, Prof. Yemi Osibajo, Ooni of Ife, Oba Enitan Ogunwusi, Emir of Kano, Sanusi Lamido Sanusi, Obi of Onitsha, Igwe Nnaemeka Achebe are among prominent personalities expected at the elaborate ceremony scheduled to hold at the Gateway International stadium, Sagamu.

Onafowokan disclosed that the State Governor, Senator Ibikunle Amosun would present the instrument of office to the Monarch.

According to him,  the king had completed the mandatory isolation traditional rites “Ipebi” which lasted for 37 days.

Onafowokan urged residents of Sagamu, including members of the National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) not to entertain any fear of their lives as all rites had been concluded.

Onafowokan said that all security measures had been put in place for the safety of guests.

The four-day programme begins on Monday, December  4 with a number of activities, including youth rally, football match and a marathon race.
