“If Buhari is not the president, we will be faced with more lies and propaganda. Rule of law will turn to be rule of fear and democracy will be replaced by despotism, favoritism and god-fatherism.

Pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has warned that those waiting to harvest political gains from the failing health of President Muhammadu Buhari are mistaken.

Urge prayers for his quick recovery

The pioneer National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Chief Bisi Akande, has warned that those waiting to harvest political gains from the failing health of President Muhammadu Buhari are mistaken.

He said the country should not be allowed to slide into anarchy and disorder of a monumental proportion. In a statement yesterday, Akande said that those hoping to take undue advantage of Buhari’s condition of health should realise that this is not the Nigeria of 1993 but that we are in a new national and global era of constitutionalism and order.

He, therefore, urged Nigerians to pray for the President. According to him: “The health of the leader is intricately intertwined with the health of the nation. It is more so in a delicately fragile union of nations called Nigeria.

“There are two challenges facing the country today. The first and most critical is the health of the President, which unfortunately, is a development beyond his control and for which we did not prepare.

“The second is the disorder and lack of cohesion between the National Assembly and the Presidency. These are two great red flag dangers that have the potential of plunging the country into unprecedented chaos and destabilising the gains of democracy since 1999.

“The greatest danger however is for political interests at the corridor of power attempting to feast on the health of the President in a dangerous manner that may aggravate the problems between the Executive and the National Assembly without realising if, in the end, it could drag the entire country into an avoidable doom.

In the same vein, a pentecostal bishop, Rt. Rev. Seun Adeoye, has urged Nigerians to pray for the quick recovery of President Buhari, saying that his wellbeing is so important to the nation’s co-existence and stability.

The cleric, who spoke during the first Episcopal Honours and Gallantry Awards held at the weekend in Osun State, noted that only God could sustain the President’s health.

He said: “I see trouble should anything go wrong with President Buhari. So, we need to pray for his quick recovery from this ailment. Buhari must not die; Buhari must live and that should be our prayers.

“If Buhari is not the president, we will be faced with more lies and propaganda. Rule of law will turn to be rule of fear and democracy will be replaced by despotism, favoritism and god-fatherism.
