Aide denies rumoured Shonekan’s death

An aide of former Head of Interim National Government (ING), Chief Ernest Shonekan, yesterday denied the rumoured death of his principal at 82.

An aide of former Head of Interim National Government (ING), Chief Ernest Shonekan, yesterday denied the rumoured death of his principal at 82.

According to him, “the rumour had been flying since morning (yesterday). He is hail and alive.” The Aare Baaroyin of Egbaland, Layi Labode, who spoke on behalf of the Alake, noted: “I have just spoken with Chief Ernest Shonekan’s Personal Assistant, Mr. Dickson, who refuted the story.

“Mr. Dickson also disclosed that the Ogun State Governor, Ibikunle Amosun, had phoned him and he (Dickson) confirmed to him that Chief Shonekan is alive.

“Also a media aide to the Babasale of Egbaland, Mr. Gbenga Fasina, said that the chairman of the erstwhile ING is alive. We shall keep you informed if there’s any development.”
