The governorship candidate of the Social Democratic Party (SDP), Dr. Olu Agunloye, yesterday took his campaign to Odigbo Local Council area where he promised to develop Ore into a commercial city.

The party’s supporters, who included market women, traders, associations, commercial transporters and community leaders, received the candidate and his running mate, Modupe Akindele Martins.

At Ago Alaye, a community of rubber plantation, Agunloye said he was happy that the people had turned out to support him and promised that the area was a potential economic giant that was waiting to be developed.

The candidate promised to transform Ore into an economic hub where people from across the nation and beyond, would come to do business.

He condemned the poor state of the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC)’s Depot in Ore, which had failed to meet its expectations as the largest home of industries and employers of labour in the state.

He lauded the people’s spirit of good neigbouliness, despite the high population of non-indigenes that reside in the area.

The candidate said he was disturbed that Ore had remained undeveloped for decades due to several challenges, promising that his government would address the issues if he wins the election.

He added that Ondo needs a leader with passion and courage to rescue and rebuild it.

Agunloye, who was the pioneer Corps Marshall of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC), pledged that his administration would bring good governance to the state.

He said he would improve the welfare package of traditional rulers and create more first-class monarchs in the state.

The candidate added that an SDP government would also grant autonomy to the traditional institution to free the monarch’s from government’s interference.

The Olore of Ore, Johnson Olatomide appealed to him to provide the area with potable water, electricity and hospitals if elected.

Agunloye is the best man for the job, he is loved by the people and he is the only one that can do a good job in the state. He has to be governor, he is better than the remaining useless candidates anyway.
