AfriOne, a Lagos-based indigenous mobile devices and laptop manufacturer, has donated tablets and dual-sim mobile phones to the 106 freed Chibok girls.

The donation was made on September 13 at a ceremony put together by the Federal Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development in Abuja to mark the end of the rehabilitation of the girls.

The donation, according to AfriOne’s director of strategy and government relations Lekan Akinjide, was part of the company’s corporate social responsibilities.

The girls, who were abducted from their school hostel on April 14, 2014, are expected to study at the American University of Nigeria (AUN), Yola, for their tertiary education.

According to the Minister of Women Affairs Aisha Alhassan, the girls would be leaving Abuja immediately for their hometown, Chibok, to enable them to spend about two weeks with their parents and families before proceeding to school.
