20 feared dead in Kebbi boat mishap
No fewer than 20 persons were feared dead as another boat capsised in River Niger in Yauri Local Council of Kebbi State.
The boat, conveying about 34 passengers, was said to have capsised when it collided with a tree outcrop in the river.
The National Inland Waterways Officer in charge of Yauri, Malam Bissallah Abdullahi, who confirmed this yesterday to newsmen, said 16 dead bodies had been recovered, 19 rescued while four were missing.
He said members of the rescue team were still searching for the remaining bodies along the river bank.
However, the victims were said to be on a spiritual visit to Teteku village in Auna Local Council of Niger State when the incident happened.
