A Magistrates’ Court in Minna on Tuesday ordered the remand in prison of two men, Abubakar Mohammed and Usman Kwore, for alleged kidnapping.

The duo were first arraigned on Aug. 5 on a two-count charge of criminal conspiracy and kidnapping, contrary to Sections 97 and 273 of the Penal Code.

The Prosecutor, Insp Alfred Auta, had told the court that one Alhaji Wunti Aliyu of Godoro village reported the matter at the Tegina Police Station on July 27.

Auta said the complainant alleged that the accused persons and one Babuga Buga, now at large, invaded his compound and kidnapped his 16-year-old son.

The prosecutor said the victim was taken to Tegina where the accused were eventually arrested.

When the charges were read to them, the accused pleaded guilty and begged the court for leniency.

The prosecutor told the court that investigation into the matter was still ongoing and asked for another adjournment.

In her ruling, Magistrate Amina Musa ordered the accused to be remanded in prison and adjourned the case till Aug. 31
