Towards uplifting the aspirations of indigent students across the country and bringing joy to the hearts of many families, LAPO Microfinance Bank (LAPO Mfb) has awarded no fewer than 1,080 students scholarship drawn from across 31 states of the country.

Speaking yesterday during the 2017 LAPO Microfinance Bank Scholarship and Skills Acquisition Awards ceremony in Benin City, Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer LAPO Mfb, Dr. Godwin Ehigiamusoe, appealed for support of corporate organizations and development-focused individuals in providing indigent students with educational empowerment and scholarship.

Represented by Moses Ehigiamusoe, Director LAPO, he said 201 new beneficiaries in Edo State, making a total of 1,080 students nationwide were awarded scholarships this year from 31 states in the country.

Ehigiamusoe said the noble efforts of LAPO Scholarship Scheme has nourished the dreams of 8,140 students since inception in 2007.

” This outreach is our own little way of supporting our Clients children and the less privileged in the society. We are immensely proud about the performance and development of these students and the huge relief it has brought to their parents.

“This quest for educational empowerment has been a very fulfilling one, and because we are passionate about the LAPO Scholarship and Skills Acquisition Scheme to greater heights. We seek the support of corporate organizations and development-focused individuals, as nothing is too small to give to help a child and wipe off the tears of an almost helpless parent.” Ehigiamusoe said.

Chairperson, LAPO Scholarship Board, Prof (Mrs) Christiana Okojie urged the beneficiaries to maintain flying colours in their academic pursuit and remain focus in their studies to be the best students in their various schools.
