100 Days: Mixed Reactions Trail Buhari’s Style Of Leadership

FORMER Vice President of the Nigeria Labour Congress (NLC), Comrade Isah Tijjani has faulted President Muhammadu Buhari’s appointments as being increasingly lopsided in favour of the Northern part of the country, as the federal government celebrates 100 days in office.
Tijjani opined that Nigeria is a project where every section of the country has rights to be represented in the national scheme of things.
According to him, as its hundredth day in office approaches, there are two issues involved – achievements and setbacks.
He noted that government’s resolve to clean-up Ogoni land and the improvement recorded in the power sector are welcome developments. This shows the seriousness of Buhari’s administration.
“The fact that people are now being sensitised to be aware that public treasury is not meant for embezzlement, the successes so far recorded in the fight against insurgency and the fact that the nation’s security apparatus appears more serious and committed in the war are positives for this administration,” he said.
Tijjani lists the setbacks to include Buhari’s apathy to who became leaders of the National Assembly from onset. This, in his view, is what led to the degeneration and all manner of leadership crises at the National Assembly. “That is why I have always said that President Buhari should be held responsible for all the crises happening at the National Assembly.”
While blaming the executive arm of government for conniving with the legislative arm in allegedly undermining the judiciary, Tijjani advised that all committees being formed by the National Assembly of recent on many national issues were not necessary.

Buhari said he is not going to work with any corrupt Nigeria, why are Nigerians having problem with that? The so-called lopsidedness can only hold water under the old framework, that federal appointees are there to “chop on behalf of their ethnic groups”.
