NALDA donates inputs to 1000 farmers in Lagos, Nasarawa


The National Agriculture Land Development Authority (NALDA) has distributed farm inputs to 1000 farmers across Lagos and Nasarawa states to boost food production in the country.


The beneficiaries spread across Lagos East Senatorial District consisting of Epe, Ibeju/Lekki, Ikorodu, Agbowa, Imota, and some others in Nasarawa were provided with improved seed varieties, fertilizers, herbicides, and fungicides

The Executive Secretary of NALDA Paul Ikonne while handing over the far inputs to 500 beneficiaries in Lagos State disclosed that the inputs were distributed based on the comparative advantage of each state.

In addition, he said biometrics of the beneficiaries were captured on their farms to ensure a comprehensive database of farmers and also ensure that only genuine farmers benefit.


The ES who was represented by the Director, Information Communications Technology, Mr. Chima Onuha, revealed that the distribution was carried out in partnership with Senator Adetokunbo Abiru was in accordance with the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on agriculture development and food security.

One of the beneficiaries, Mr. Owolabi Odulaja, who commended NALDA said the initiative will help the people to tackle poverty at this challenging economic period.

Meanwhile, about 500 farmers also benefited from the gesture across Nasarawa State.


Speaking during the distribution exercise, the Emir of Lafia and the chairman of Nasarawa Council of Chiefs, Justice Sidi Muhammed (Rtd) lauded the Federal Government for the initiative.

He said the gesture would go a long way in boosting the economy of the state while urging the beneficiaries to utilise the opportunity.

“If the federal government is saying that we are giving you this free without you dipping hands in your pockets to do it, then people must take advantage of it.”


The Emir further assured the Federal Government of the state’s support in its policies.

President Tinubu had declared a state of emergency on food hence the move by NALDA to compliment the President’s food security efforts through empowerments programme to cushion the effect of high cost of living.
