The National Agency for Control of AIDS (NACA) said that the late Group Chief Executive Officer of Access Holdings, Dr. Herbert Wigwe, left behind a legacy of dedication and leadership in the fight against HIV/AIDS.

Describing his death as tragic, the agency observed that Wigwe’s contributions to the HIV/AIDS cause were invaluable, noting that his absence will be deeply felt.

Director General of NACA, Dr. Gambo Aliyu, stated this, yesterday, in Abuja, noting that the agency is deeply saddened by the passing of Access Bank’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO). Aliyu added that, until his death, Wigwe served as the Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the HIV Trust Fund of Nigeria.

ALSO, the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) condoled with the families, friends, staff of Access Holdings and Nigerians over the death of Wigwe. The agency also commiserated with members of his family and others in the tragic chopper crash of February 9, 2024, in California, United States of America (U.S.A)

SIMILARLY, the Senate, yesterday, mourned Wigwe and five others who died in the helicopter crash.

The lawmakers observed one-minute silence for Wigwe, his wife, son, as well as a former Group Chairman of the Nigerian Exchange Group, Abimbola Ogunbanjo, who died in a chopper crash in California.
