Missionary school emerges second best in World Mathematics Tournament

Edo-based Baptist Mission School (BMS) has emerged as the second-best secondary school in the 2024 World Mathematics Tournament (WMT).

The competition, organised virtually by the Mathematics for Life Foundation for secondary school students globally, saw BMS winning the overall second position.


Ogun State-based missionary school, Welkin International Schools, Atan-Ota, clinched the first position.

Nigeria was among the 33 countries, while the two Nigerian schools were part of the 590 that participated in the competition.

The vice chairman of parents teachers’ association at BMS, Mr Kevin Okunzuwa, while commending the students for their exemplary performance, called on the government and stakeholders to invest more in the sector, especially capacity enhancement of teachers, and provide a conducive environment for students to excel.
