Minister of Humanitarian Affairs, Disaster Management and Social Development, Sadiya Farouq, has paid an unscheduled project inspection visit to Alkaleri and Kirfi local councils to see the pace of work at the ongoing construction of Kirfi/Gombe/Abba and Alkaleri/Futuk rural roads.

The Federal Government had, on August 21, 2022, approved N11.6 billion for the North East Development Commission (NEDC) to execute the road.

Speaking at the projects site in Kirfi and Alkaleri, the minister expressed satisfaction with the work, saying the roads would ease movement stress and boost the state’s economy.

She said: “This project is one of the four projects we are doing in the North East region. We have one in Yobe State, one in Adamawa State, this one that links Bauchi and Gombe states, and there is another in Borno State. From what I have seen, I am impressed and I hope that we will be able to meet up with the project duration.”

“I came here about 6.00p.m. and met them working without notifying them. This is commendable. This is 54 kilometres road linking Kirfi, Gombe and Abba.”
