YouTube has announced that videos that focus on conspiracy theories will now link to a snippet of information on the topic from Wikipedia.

YouTube CEO Susan Wojcicki spoke about the new feature during a session Tuesday at South by Southwest with the editor-in-chief of Wired, Nicholas Thompson.

She said, “This has been a year of fake news and misinformation,”

Although YouTube is yet to define the kind of information that falls under the conspiracy category, the update stems from a larger discussion surrounding the roles of social media platforms play to determine the authenticity of the information they carry.

More information should be released soon and the update will be launched in the next couple of weeks.
