Nnedi Okorafor To Write Marvel Comic Book Series For Black Panther Character Shuri
Good news for Marvel fans who were heartbroken by the depressing Avengers: Infinity War. Although we know that something big is going to happen and it will all be okay, a spinoff comic series for Black Panther’s sister Shuri brings much-needed relief.
Written by Nigerian-American author Nnedi Okorafor with the artwork done by Leonardo Romero, the spin-off will focus on Shuri’s journey after T’Challa gets lost in space. Wakanda is now without a king and Shuri is forced to choose between leading the people of Wakanda in his place or the comfort of her home and the perks of her gadget-filled laboratory.
Here is the illustration for the first issue of Shuri (written by me, art by @Leo__Romero). I love it soooooo much!
The cover artist for this is @SamSpratt. He did the album cover for @JanelleMonae’s Electric Lady. 😃!!!#WakandaForever 🙅🏾♀️ pic.twitter.com/ptLKUqDnxB

Speaking to Bustle, the Who Fears Death author said:
“Shuri is an African young woman of genius level intelligence who is obsessed with technology and has travelled spiritually so far into the past that she’s seen Wakanda before it was Wakanda.
The ancestors call her Ancient Future. And she’s super ambitious. What do I love about her? All that and more. She’s a character in the Marvel Universe who really sings to me.”
The Black Panther film was directed by Ryan Coogler. It was released in February 2018, making over $1 billion (N362 billion) from film theatres worldwide.
