The king of hip-hop is stepping off his throne. Russell Simmons is the latest powerful man in the entertainment world to be accused of sexual misconduct.
Screenwriter Jenny Lumet accused Simmons of forcing himself on her in his New York apartment in 1991.
Reuters could not independently confirm the allegation and representatives for Simmons did not reply to a request for comment.
The Def Jam records co-founder said he will step away from all of his fashion and production businesses.
In a statement, Simmons apologized for his behaviour.
